Best Mexican Players in FIFA 22

Best Mexican Players in FIFA 22

Mexico recently qualified for their 8th consecutive World Cup and, in all honesty, it’s no surprise with the talent they have at their disposal. Below we take a look at the 5 best Mexican players in FIFA 22.

5 Best Mexican Players in FIFA 22

5. Carlos Vela (Los Angeles FC: RW, LW, CAM)

Now 32, Carlos Vela continues to flourish in America, where he currently plays for Los Angeles FC. A silky, technical attacking midfielder capable of playing on either wing or through the middle, Vela effectively ghosts into pockets of space in between the lines. Here he’s able to utilise 81 vision and 79 short passing to open up defences. Given time and space he also has the ability to strike a ball from distance with 81 long shots and 76 shot power. But it’s his ball carrying ability which he’s best known for with 84 ball control, 83 dribbling and 4 star skill moves in FIFA 22.

4. Jesus Corona (Sevilla: RB, RM, RWB)

Incredibly versatile, Sevilla’s Jesus Corona is capable of playing anywhere on the right. Whether it’s at full back or further forward as a winger the 28-year-old is a well rounded player with 5 star skill moves and 5 star weak foot. Rated 81 overall in FIFA 22 Corona’s strongest asset is his turn of pace – 85 acceleration and 81 sprint speed – which he can utilise at both ends of the pitch. In the final third he may not be the most prolific, but he’s certainly dangerous with 85 dribbling, 84 ball control and 81 vision. At the other end he’s defensively sound and difficult to beat with 74 standing tackles and 72 defensive awareness.

3. Hector Herrera (Atletico Madrid: CM)

Hector Herrera is everything you’d expect from an Atletico Madrid central midfielder. He’s aggressive, industrial and solid in the tackle. Your typical Diego Simeone player who can play a bit too. Now 31-years-old and rated 81 overall on FIFA 22, Herrera is still a bundle of energy with 89 stamina. And while he may no longer have a quick turn of pace – not that he was the quickest anyway – the Mexican remains as intelligent on and off the ball as ever. The footballing brain never leaves you, eh? 81 positioning, 81 short passing and 78 long shots show he can still do it for both club and country.

2. Hirving Lozano (Napoli: RW, LW)

The only player on the list who is expected to improve in the future, Hirving Lozano is currently rated 81 overall with a potential of 82. Still only 25-years-old the winger, who can play on either flank, has already received over 50 caps for the senior national side. A key figure for club side Napoli, Lozano has pace to burn in FIFA 22 with 93 sprint speed and 92 acceleration, stick the ball over the top and he’ll do the rest. He’s more than a one trick pony, though. 83 dribbling and 89 agility shows he has the ability to carry the ball forward and ride tackles. His end product isn’t the best, but with 77 finishing and 73 crossing it’s certainly not the worst we’ve seen.

1. Raúl Jiménez (Wolverhampton Wanderers: ST)

A more traditional number nine, who’s dominant in the air, Raul Jiménez is rated 82 overall making him the best Mexican player in FIFA 22. Currently playing in the Premier League for Wolves, Jiménez  is physical and a nightmare to defend against with 83 strength. He may not be the quickest striker in the world, but what he lacks in pace he certainly makes up for with footballing IQ.

83 positioning, 81 composure and 78 vision show he’s an intelligent player on and off the ball. Give him half a chance in the box and he’ll make you pay with 84 shot power and 82 finishing. Away from goal, he effectively links up play by dropping deep and getting on the ball. 82 dribbling and 81 short passing mean he’s capable of either carrying the ball forward, or picking a pass. Unlikely to improve in the future the 30-year-old is a well rounded striker, and Mexico will have a huge void to fill when he does retire from international football.

With only one player in the top five set to improve in the near future it’s clear this is an ageing Mexican squad, but one that’s still competing at the highest level which is testament to the talent they have and continue to produce.
